My simple life is not simple at all. Yet it is so simple when I listen for God’s call. My first call to share my walk with God through the simple and the not so simple times was in pastoral ministry at Highland Springs Retirement Community in Far North Dallas. This validated ministry led to my Ordination to Minster of Word and Sacrament on October 2, 2011.

Rev. Dr. Lil Smith is a trained spiritual director, supervisor, and co-founder of Retreat House Spirituality Center in Richardson, TX. Her passion is tending the spiritual life. Lil quickly realized this vital, spiritual journey requires listening to the Holy within and sharing what she learns about herself, her story. As she has learned to be gentle with herself, may you hold her story gently and receive what you desire to hear.
Praying the Lectionary – sharing her spiritual practice: Upon completion of her spiritual direction training, Lil began Praying the Lectionary in 2011 as a spiritual practice for her morning prayer time. Instead of reading about someone else’s experience of God, it was important for her to create a prayer practice that would encourage felt sense experience of the Holy emerging from within. It dawned on her others might enjoy the practice, as well. So she began to share them on Praying the Lectionary: Drinking God’s Word Together.
